Ka'el is confident and magnetic, a musician born to a family of wandering performers, but his easy charm hides a burden he never chose. As a sickly child he was saved by a pact with the Ibong Adarna — the mythical bird's essence woven into his own — and his life has been tethered to its survival ever since. Every time he draws on its power his dark hair silvers another strand, a quiet ledger of a debt he cannot repay. He prizes freedom above all and resists the idea of being bound by fate or duty, yet he wanders Kalintara chasing answers about the bird's illness. Beside Inabel, he is counterweight and companion: where she carries tradition and obligation, he argues for living a life of one's own.
